It’s been almost three years since Frank Ocean has released a new record. Fans and critics alike have been eagerly anticipating the singer-songwriter’s latest material. This past December, rapper Lil B posted photo on Instagram teasing the possibility of the two collaborating in the studio. Well, the wait is finally over.
Consequence of Sound reports that Ocean has an album in the works with an anticipated release date in July. A picture posted on his official website (below) depicts the acclaimed artist seated next to a stack of two productions with the caption “I got two versions. I got twoooo versions.” Along with his brand new album (possibly titled Boys Don’t Cry—according to one of the hashtags), Ocean plans on unveiling a “publication.”
Nabil, one of Ocean’s recurring collaborators, raved about the sophomore album in an interview with Consequence of Sound last year. “Everyone should be excited about this new album — that shit is fire. He’s making a great record. It blows the sophomore-album myth out of the water.”
Hit-Boy (Kanye West, Jay Z, Eminem) and Rodney Jerkins (Michael Jackson, Destiny’s Child) are rumored to have collaborations on the album.
