Formed in 1994, Danish progressive rock band Mew emerged as a driving force in the indie scene of their home country. After the release of their debut follow-up Half the World is Watching Me in 2000, band snagged “Album of the Year” and “Band of the Year” trophies at the 2003 Danish Music Critics Award Show.
The band continued to garner national acclaim, releasing three more albums before announcing a hiatus. After acquiring an independently-owned status in January 2013, Mew began the production on their 6th studio album +- with producer Michael Beinhorn.
In preparation for the album’s release, the band dove right back into touring, performing at the Under the Radar party and a slew of other shows at Austin’s SXSW.

Since their tremendously successful run at SXSW, Mew has continued their streak with a beautifully stunning new video for the single “Water Slides”. Directed by Denmark-bred Anders Malmberg, the video focuses on four distinct characters—their faces unforgettably coated in what seems to be multi-hued paints. During the course of the video, each character travels through with eerily disconsolate looks plastered on their faces.
Lead singer and guitarist Jonas Bjerre sheds light on the video explaining, “We feel his interpretation carries with it the same sense of foreboding we sensed in the song. It’s a mystery of sorts – we are presented with a feeling that something is wrong, but we can’t know what it is, and an almost pleasurable giving in, to impending disaster.”
