Tink and Timbaland have released a new video for their song “The Ratchet Commandments.” The video creates a cross between the worlds of a church and what Tink considered to be “Ratchet” behavior.

When the single first came out, Spin referred to it as a credo to young ladies on appropriate behavior. During the intro of the video, Tink is seen in a church robe. Early on in the first verse she raps, “Some of y’all ratchet, I’m a write you hoes a manual/ Step by step, G shit for you to keep/This the ratchet commandments, I need a moment to preach.”

While her language is uncensored, Tink spells out the degrading behavior she has witnessed that she feels women should stop taking part in. She touches on a wide range of subjects including recklessly spending money despite having bills to pay and posting provocative photos on Instagram.

As Tink touches on each of these subjects, she preaches to different women throughout the video. By the middle of the video she is dressed to represent a Cleopatra like character. During this scene men dance around her and she asks what has happened to her queens.

Tink first came on the music scene in 2012. She was known primary through the five mixtapes titled Winter’s Diary, Alter Ego, Blunts & Ballads, Boss Up, and Winter’s Diary 2: Forever Yours. As she dropped her mixtapes, talents were noticed in the music community. In 2013 Tink was featured on Future Brown’s debut single “Wanna Party.” The following year she was featured on Sleigh Bells’ single “That Did It.” Tink has been recognized by prominent music outlets such as Billboard and Rolling Stone. Both gave awards for her last mixtape, Winter’s Diary 2: Forever Yours. Rolling Stone named it the eight best R&B album of 2014 and Billboard crowned it the ninth best album of the same year.
