An autopsy report has finally revealed that A$AP Yams of A$AP Mob died due to an accidental drug overdose. He passed away earlier this year on January 18 in Brooklyn, NY.
Steven Rodriguez, known popularly as A$AP Mob founder A$AP Yams, suffered from an overdose involving a lethal mixture of benzodiazepine and opiates. The report is contradictory to a previous statement by A$AP Ant, who claimed that drugs were not involved in Yams’ death. While he had attempted to combat drug addiction in the past, his bout with substance abuse was a struggle. A tweet Yams posted just two days before his death, “Bodeine Brazy,” pointed to his continued use of prescription drugs.
A$AP Mob front runner A$AP Rocky has been deeply affected by the loss of such an influential member of the group. At the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT this January, Rocky had to cut his performance short due to emotional stress and mourning. He recently announced at SXSW this year that Yams will be included as an executive producer on his upcoming record.
A$AP Yams was 26.
