Ozzy Osbourne Cancels Ozzfiesta Due To Upcoming Surgery

What was to be a first round filled with much anticipated Ozzy-worth spectacularness, Ozzfiesta, has been cancelled due to Ozzy’s surgery in May, and the opportunity for him to heal. Reasons for his sudden surgery are not clear at this present time. If you were looking forward to enjoying the all-inclusive getaway at the Hard Rock in Riviera Maya, Mexico, where the Ozzfiesta was to take place, you are still in great luck. Festival organizers will take emails from fans to arrange their stay in the city.

The concert festival was set for five days, May 27 through May 31st, and it was to include a dinner party hosted by Sharon Osbourne, a charity golf tournament benefiting Sharon Osbourne’s Colon Cancer Program, a kick-off party featuring an acoustic set by Zack Wylde, a full-set by Wylde’s band Black Label Society, a performance by the man of the hour Ozzy Osbourne, a Q&A session, a comedy night hosted by Jim Norton and Jim Florentine, and many more Ozzyfiesta exclusives.

Ozzfiesta, a spin-off from the ever-evolving annual festival OzzFest, has undergone many experimental changes in the past years, and like many tentative events, a few cancellations. The motivation behind the start of Ozzfest in 1996 came about after Ozzy refused to join the tour of another well-known music festival. Artists such as Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Incubus, Linkin Park, Pantera, Rob Zombie, Godsmack and many more helped pivot the start to the yearly festival. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne hosted Battle for Ozzfest, which aired from October 2014 to January 2015, and featured more than eight heavy metal bands battling for a chance to perform before thousands of festival goers. In 2013, the festival touched down in Japan for the first time, headlined by heavy metal gods Slipknot and Black Sabbath.

According to Loudwire, “The nature of Osbourne’s surgery is not known, but the rocker is expected to be ready by the time Black Sabbath play their farewell show at Makuhari Messe at Ozzfest Japan on Nov. 22.”
