Since the release of tUnE-yArDs’ visually stimulating videos for “Water Fountain” and “Real Thing”, Merril Garbus and Nate Brenner have been busy at work creating another brand new video. Today Garbus and Brenner and graced us with the fruit of their labors, revealing another graphically stimulating piece for the single “Wait a Minute” via Stereogum, which also appears on the duo’s third album Nikki Nack.
The video emulates the peak of an acid trip, with an eclectic mix of distorted video effects. Merril Garbus appears as the central focus of the video while multiple videos—ranging from a crying baby to a debutante ball dance to a busy street on a rainy day—are superimposed in an array of bright colors. Its got the feel of those classic 90s shows containing amateur video effects, which make for a video that is hard to turn away from. SNEAL takes the reigns on the directing for this one.
Nikki Nack is out now via 4AD.
