The Gentle Storm, a project between two Dutch musicians, has released a new music video for the track “Shores of India.”
Arjen Lucassen and Anneke van Giersbergen released their debut album as The Gentle Storm on March 24, entitled The Diary. They have released their latest music video in celebration of the album release. “Shores of India” follows the release of two versions of the track “Endless Sea” from their album and one other music video, for “Heart of Amsterdam.”
The “Shores of India” video opens dramatically, as if the viewer is sailing into a crowded port. The intensity of the music matches the scene, with trumpeting and cymbal crashes. All of a sudden, the music turns to a metal composition with an Eastern influence. The intonations in Anneke van Giersbergen’s voice match up perfectly with the music. The video itself tells the tragic story of a couple in which the man must go on the stormy seas while the woman remains home. The setting and imagery of the video is derived from Indian and Eastern culture. You can watch the full video below.
