Great Lake Swimmers, indie folk band from Toronto, have unveiled the first single off their upcoming record A Forest of Arms, due to be released April 21st via Nettwerk Records.
“I Must Have Someone Else’s Blues,” with a sunny countryside sounding and blues-tinged aftertaste, is a good sign on the way of the forthcoming album release.
As reported by Exclaim, nature played a major role in the new recordings, with bandleader Tony Dekker drawing inspiration from issues like the BP oil spill and the Northern Gateway Pipeline controversy — and even going so far as to record a chunk of the record inside Ontario’s Tyendinaga Cavern and Caves.
The release of A Forest of Arms, a follow-up to the band’s 2012 LP New Wild Everywhere, will be accompanied by the massive North America touring, with more information to come soon. According to Brooklyn Vegan, NYC show is scheduled on May 4 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. For now, give a listen to the new Great Lake Swimmers song in Soundcloud player below.
