LISTEN: Poison Idea Release New Song “Bog”

It’s been almost 9 years since Poison Idea, the long-running punk band from Portland, Oregon, bestowed fans with a studio album. At the start of February, the revolutionary legends made the announcement that they will release its new album Confuse & Conquer on April 7 via Southern Lord Recordings. Earsplit, the band’s PR company, posted brand new single titled “Bog” on the company’s SoundCloud account.

This marks the band’s first album release following the passing of revered guitarist Tom Roberts in 2006. The band’s current roster of musicians includes lead guitarist Eric Olsen, bassist Chris Carey, guitarist Brandon Bentley, drummer Nathan Richardson and founding vocalist Jerry A. Lang.

“Bog” delivers a vigorous comeback, immediately opening with an energetic drum solo. A hasty electric guitar steals the spotlight as the drums begin to fade, setting the stage for Lang’s passionately manic vocals. Although the years have gone, the band’s dark, powerful intensity has not. It’s a powerful return, once again embracing the nihilistic, angry nature of contemporary punk rock.
