Producer Abel Tesfaye, also known by his stage name as The Weeknd, has just been announced as an addition to this year’s SXSW 2015 roster. His performance came as a surprise to fans just days before the festival is set to start.
From March 13-22, SXSW 2015 will officially take place in Austin, Texas. While the festival has already attracted hundreds of bands to its official roster, and countless others to unofficial parties around the city, The Weeknd is the latest addition.
One user recently tweeted the announcement:
While SXSW’s official website has not determined a date or time when The Weeknd will perform, the festival appears to have confirmed him as one of this year’s acts. Stay tuned here for further updates as more information becomes available about this upcoming show.
When we last reported on The Weeknd, he had just completed a tour and released new music this summer. This SXSW performance will be one of the first from the producer in line of shows he has coming up in the next few months. He has plenty of shows set for this month, as well as a residency in Las Vegas.
