Snoop Dogg will be the first rapper to hold the keynote speaker title in the festival’s history. The speech will take place at the Austin Convention Center on March 20.
The legendary Snoop Dogg will join the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Quincy Jones and Lady Gaga as SXSW’s next keynote speaker. The massive festival holds the keynote address every year, and it features one artist discussing current issues in the music industry.
Last year, Lady Gaga sat in front of an interviewer to talk about her music to a massive crowd at the convention center. It’s not clear what Snoop Dogg will talk about when he’s in the same seat a few days from now, but his expansive career should make for an interesting show. Take a look at our other SXSW lineups right here.
Speaking of expansive careers, Snoop Dogg is still hard at work on his own albums. The 43-year-old recently released a new song produced by Pharrell Williams, and featuring Charlie Wilson.
The song, “Peaches N Cream,” is everything you expect from the iconic rapper. Smooth beats form the backbone to slick verses drenched in not-so-subtle innuendo. The song is hand-crafted for the dancefloor, as the chorus rings out, “She ’bout to go in, she loves that low end. Damn her ass is so big, just keep it bumpin’.”
The track appears on Snoop Dogg’s latest album BUSH. It’s set for a May 12 release, and features more collaborations with Parrell and Charlie Wilson. When asked about the album, Snoop’s team said they wanted to create something for a “better present and an ideal future.” If this latest single is anything like the rest of the album, listeners can expect just that: an unapologetic, funky set of tracks designed to get you moving.

This will be the second year in a row that Snoop Dogg has done something special for SXSW. Last year, he performed alongside Damon Albarn, Del the Funky Homosapien and Dan the Automator for a one-time performance of The Gorillaz’ “Clint Eastwood.”
Meanwhile, Pharrell Williams has been hard at work on his solo tour and a reunion with NERD. He’ll be playing at both Lollapalooza Argentina 2015 and Lollapalooza Brasil 2015. His unexpected performance with NERD at one of his recent shows kicked off the group’s reunion. The group also recently released new track, “Squeeze Me,” for The SpongeBob Movie.
