A new version of the track called “How You Went So Far,” has been released and is set to be features on Frank Black and The Catholics new compilation album called The Complete Recordings.
The compilation album will feature all six of the Frank Black and The Catholics albums into a single box set called The Complete Recordings.
The Complete Recordings will also include a disc specifically with “technical demos”, which are tracks recorded for the band’s Black Letter Days album back in 2002. One of which is the new version of “How You Went So Far.” The version to be included is a much grittier, unplugged version of the original track and can be previewed below:
On the subject of compiling the collection together, Frank states,
“This is a boxset including all of the Frank Black and the Catholics material that was recorded, there’s bonus material and technical demos and it’s all recorded live to 2-track, as was our rule in the band…”
The tracks, which were originally recorded between 1998 and 2003 will be featured in the collection in alphabetical order.
Frank said, ”[the alphabetization of the tracks] feels like an approximation of randomness, it’s a way to randomize something especially if is song titles in this case, by placing them alphabetically, we get away from the preciousness of the so-called LPs that we put out and it’s more about the body of work, the good times that we had…”
The site PledgeMusic, is also offering exclusives if the album is preordered through their site, such as exclusive Tees, baseball caps, and boxset artwork prints signed by Frank Black.
The boxset artwork was designed by Frank himself.
The Complete Recordings is set to release on April 20th and can be purchased at Cooking Vinyl.
