New York singer-songwriter Shilpa Ray will be releasing her second solo album on May 19 titled Last Year’s Savage.
On her latest album, Ray explores the same themes that she has in the past – themes like betrayal, death and sex – but shows a different side of herself and her music. Fans of Shilpa Ray and Her Happy Hookers will more than likely enjoy her forthcoming album, but can expect something different from Teenage and Torture and other past LPs. Last Year’s Savage is already available for pre-order and the pre-order package includes a 33” x 22.75” zine.
Ray just premiered a track from her latest album, “Pop Song for Euthanasia.” The song fades in and out, between an ephemeral, choral sound and a booming, angry one. Ray’s voice transitions flawlessly between sultry and threatening. Listen to the full track below.
After having toured the United States in fall 2014, Shilpa Ray will be touring the country again in March, including a stop at SXSW.
