Pittsburgh-based Anti-Flag have announced their upcoming album, American Spring, due May 26 via Spinefarm Records.
Though the band has been putting out albums regularly since the mid-1990s, but this album will be their first release with Spinefarm Records. It will embody the same spirit that Anti-Flag has always had in their music. The title of the album, as well as its cover art, is clearly meant to inspire political discussion and controversy. The front of the album features a woman in a black hijab and the back cover features a soldier in American army fatigues. Both portraits are obscured by an exploding flower on their respective faces.
The band explained the feel of the album and its artwork in a statement: “The songs of American Spring are an aggressive critique of the global social and political climate of 2015. The artwork is no different. The cover art is meant to challenge our collective view of violence and peace. The entire American Spring package includes essays, personal liner notes, and further information behind the driving forces of each song, detailing ways for us all to take action against injustice in the world. The American Spring is now.
