Amanda Palmer has announced the launch of her page on Patreon, a subscription-based site that helps artists fund their work.
On Patreon, patrons agree to pay a set amount of money per piece of content that’s released, with the option to set a monthly limit so they never go over budget. Patrons are charged at the end of the month and can cancel during the month without being charged any amount.
Amanda Palmer’s Patreon page will have all of the latest updates on her projects. Among the ideas she has for artistic projects right now are going to Berlin to record a collection of songs in German, going to Paris to record a collection of songs in French, start a podcast and do a collection of songs with her father. She has also recorded a track with Zoe Keating entitled “Bigger on the Inside” that she wants to release and to make a music video for, plus she wants to work with Grammy-winning producer John Congleton again. Palmer plans to begin releasing new content for subscribers within the next few weeks.
Palmer has expressed interest in getting back to making art because she has been working on other projects in the recent past, like her book The Art of Asking. She did book signings while on tour around the U.S. in the fall, but had to remove controversial former CBC host Jian Ghomeshi as guest in Toronto. Palmer will be performing in several cities in April as part of a new tour, called An Evening With Amanda Fucking Palmer.
