Belle & Sebastian will play their biggest NYC show to date this summer at Radio City Music Hall, perhaps a sign more than any other that this band has ascended to the pinnacle of indie stardom. The band will begin a tour in March that will see them criss-crossing the atlantic and playing marquee venues in major cities everywhere.
The band emerged out of the burgeoning Glasgow indie scene in the early 2000’s and really haven’t looked back at all, with each new album marking an artistic growth, and each tour involving bigger shows with more fans. Often compared to such luminaries as The Smiths and Nick Drake, the band exhibits the high degree of musicianship and sonic construction that it takes to fill a hall like Radio City. With no new release since 2010, and releases traditionally coming every 4 years, don’t be surprised if a new album is in the works as well–this could be a big year for Belle and Sebastian fans.
Real Estate, shortened from original name Days and Real Estate, is a band from New Jersey who released their newest album in March of last year, and much like Belle and Sebastian they are evocative and careful songwriters who employ a high degree of musicianship. Don’t miss your chance to see Belle & Sebastian this year summer in what is sure to be a sellout sooner rather than later.
