California rock band The Neighbourhood have released three new music videos, all three of which have collaborators – French Montana, Raury and YG, respectively.
All three tracks are off The Neighbourhood’s 2014 mixtape, #000000 & #FFFFFF. The name of the mixtape is taken from the hex codes for the colors black and white, so all three videos are in black and white.
The first of the three videos, “#icanteven,” features lead vocalist Jesse Rutherford smoking cigarettes and wearing a leather jacket and black sunglasses. Cut with scenes of him are footage of a woman, presumably the ex-girlfriend who is the subject of the song. About halfway through the video, rapper French Montana shows up to contribute to the track. The video for “Warm” is more surreal and abstract, with opening shots including Rutherford doing a flip while wearing overalls, a running horse and cutting bales of hay with shears, establishing that the video takes place on a farm. The track itself has a slow tempo and a lot of reverb. Several genres are referenced throughout the song, including chanting, R&B and, when Raury makes his appearance, hip hop. The final new video is for their track “Dangerous,” which is set up like a film set. The band members hang out in a convertible as a green screen sits behind them with moving images, as though they’re driving through the city. A fan sits off to the side to blow their hair back, and technicians adjust the lighting of the set. The track is catchy and features rapper YG, who is on a “set” of his own that looks like a living room. Watch the “Dangerous” music video below.
Last year they released several tracks from the mixtape to be streamed online, including “Hate Machine,” featuring Danny Brown, and “Jealousy,” featuring Casey Veggies and 100s.
