Gill Landry has released a new song, “Take This Body” featuring Laura Marling. This song is off Landry’s new self-titled album which is due for release on March 3 via ATO Records.
The new track is currently streaming at Stereogum.”Take This Body” has received rave reviews. Rolling Stone Country said the song, “Pitches its tent in the four-way intersection between Dylan-inspired folk-rock, atmospheric Americana, dusty cowboy songs and street busker ballads.” Additionally, Tennessean reviewed the song saying, “Gill Landry features his strongest writing yet, and guest appearances from Robert Ellis and Laura Marling, among others, only enhance the evocative lyrics.”
Gill Landry’s new album will consist of 10 tracks. The album was fully produced and mostly engineered by Landry. He referred to this process as, “a ramshackle, shanty-ass apartment on the south side of Nashville.” Other artists that are included on the album are Robert Ellis, Nick Etwell, and Odessa Jorgensen.
Landry had the following to say on his inspiration for the album, “These songs are my attempt at transcending the more classic type of broken-hearted love song I’d been writing for years where there was an obvious victim. I tried to not come at it from the point of how things could have/should have been or should be, but searching for a sweet, understanding surrender to what is or was, and moving forward with compassion and kindness without harsh judgment to the reasons for this crime or that misstep.”
