Daft Punk has announced that they are making a short film for Nile Rodgers. Rodgers worked with the group on their record, Random Access Memories, which ended up winning a Grammy.
Rodgers confirmed via social media that Daft Punk would be making a short film in honor of his forthcoming Chic album. Rodgers posted a screenshot of the video and commented in a separate tweet that the film would be available “within the next few weeks.” Daft Punk is making this video as a gesture to return the favor for all the work he did with their last record.
The band Chic was formed in 1976 by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. The current members of the group are Nile Rodgers, Jerry Barnes, Kim Davis, Folami, Ralph Rolle, Russell Graham, Richard Hilton, Bill Holloman, and Curt Ramm. The announcement for Chic’s new album comes as quite a surprise seeing as the group has not released an album for over two decades now. According to Spin, single for Chic’s new album is expected to drop in March. There is currently some speculation about when the album itself will be released. According to Stereogum, Chic’s album will be released in June and it is titled It’s About Time.
