WATCH: Sleater-Kinney Release New Video For “A New Wave”

Punk rock trio Sleater-Kinney released a new video for their song, “A New Wave”, from their first album in ten years, “No Cities To Love”.

When the group disbanded in 2006, they had defined an era with a total of seven albums that touched on subjects, which ranged from feminism being commercialized to the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, according to a review in The Guardian. In a sense by paying tribute to male punk rockers like The Clash or The Who, while writing their own anthemic tracks, Sleater-Kinney endeared themselves to a broad audience of men and women.

Eight years later, the trio has reformed and haven’t lost their spark. The Guardian describes the “No Cities to Love” album as “a towering, fists-up record of thundering guitars and soaring hooks – from Price Tag’s rally against consumerism to Bury Our Friends’ grownup anxieties.”

Sleater-Kinney has been creative with their music videos that compliment the new album. In “No Cities To Love”, the band teamed up with a slew of celebrity friends that were tasked with singing along to the track on their laptops or mobiles; then, the band edited the clips into a cohesive video. So, it shouldn’t come as that much of a shock to learn that in the video for “A New Wave”, the band has been animated to compliment their young guests from Bob’s Burgers.

If you aren’t up to date on the latest shows on the Fox Broadcasting Network, then you might be wondering what is Bob’s Burgers?

It is an animated sitcom series that is – as the name implies – centered around a man, Bob Belcher, who owns and operates a hamburger restaurant. Bob is joined in his business endeavors by his wife Linda, and their children Tina, Gene, and Louise. The series, which began in 2011, was created by Loren Bouchard, who is best known for his work as the co-creator of Home Movies. And, it was recently announced that Bob’s Burgers would be extended for sixth season consisting of twenty-two episodes.

So, what can fans expect to see in the new video?

Well, Rolling Stone writer Jon Blistein offered the following description of the video for “A New Wave”. He wrote, “The clip finds the Washington trio animated and kicking out the jams for Tina in her room, and soon enough they’re joined by the other Belcher kids, Louise and Gene. The party rages as the animation grows wilder, and the headbanging only stops for a moment when the Belcher parents, Bob and Linda, notice plaster falling from the ceiling.”
