The trio from Glasgow has put a new spin on a JT classic at BBC’s Live Lounge. Hear it for yourself right here.
Synthpop group Chvrches covered the 2002 Justin Timberlake hit, “Cry Me A River,” today on BBC’s Live Lounge with Fearne Cotton. It’s an bumping, electrified interpretation of the soulful track originally produced by none other than Timbaland. The band’s unique flush of synthesizers and bouncing drum kits lace with Lauren Mayberry’s voice perfectly to make for a refreshing new version of the original. At the same time, this twist still beautifully accomplishes the heartfelt message of the lyrics.
This isn’t the first great cover that Chvrches has given us. They impressively reworked Janelle Monae’s “Tightrope,” Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead,” and Arctic Monkey’s “Do I Wanna Know?”. Listen to the newest cover in the BBC recording below.
