Django Django has announced the release of their sophomore album, Born Under Saturn. The album is set for release on May 5 via Ribbon Music and May 4 via Because Music overseas.
The first track of the album, “First Light,” was released last month for fans to get a sneak peak of what the album has to hold. Born Under Saturn is said to be a smorgasbord of different sounds from Beach Boys harmonies to African rhythms.
Since the release of “First Light,” the single has received rave reviews. One of these reviews the Los Angeles Times “Essential Tracks,” describes how interesting the sounds of “First Light” are. In a statement the LA Times reports, “Mixing dusty-sounding synth tones, warbling analog harmonies and big hand claps, ‘First Light’ has the vibe of psychedelic London circa 1967 — if most of the strummy guitars were replaced with analog synthesizers. The result is a humming trippiness that teems with Zombies-style harmonies and go-go happy bounce.”
