The WayHome Music and Arts Festival has announced headliners for the 2015 incarnation of the annual Ontario event, including Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Alt-J, Modest Mouse and Hozier.
Ten minutes north of Barrie, Ontario, the WayHome Music and Arts Festival is annual event resulting from the collaboration of Canada’s Republic Live and the US’s AC Entertainment, who also conspired to create the successful Bonnaroo Festival. Tickets go on sale February 16th at 12 noon EST through the WayHome Festival Website,with general admission prices starting as low as $209.99 Canadian.
Shannon McNevan, the Executive Director of Republic Live sounds exceedingly thrilled to get such big names to play their festival:
“We couldn’t be more excited to finally launch the name of our new festival as the WayHome Music and Arts and announce this inspiring line-up. Sam Smith is one of the hottest and most exciting new artists in the world right now, so it’s awesome to see acts like him join Kendrick Lamar and Alt-J on our inaugural bill as Canada’s international destination music festival. It’s a testament to how great of an entertainment market southern Ontario is.”
McNevan went on to talk about the different experience she’s hoping to offer festival goers:
“A huge differentiator for any festival we do is the on-site experience and amazingly deep sense of community that people feel there. To that end, we’re including tent camping or parking with our ticket offerings to encourage people to camp out with their pals and really immerse themselves in the experience.”
Ashley Capps, CEO of AC Entertainment, the American end of the festival orginization seemed just as thrilled to be joining in on the planning, saying, “We’ve been talking with and getting to know the team at Republic Live for several years now and we’re excited that WayHome Music and Arts is at long last becoming a reality.” The goal is clearly to make WayHome one of the preeminent music festivals in all of North America. Accordingly, the two promotion companies have put together over 90 acts to perform on four stages in a bucolic setting, with “a kaleidoscope of ongoing activities for festival goers,” according to Capps.
The festival will role out tickets at the initial price point of $209.99 Canadian, but will release a second wave of ticketing at $229.99 if these sell out.
