LISTEN Portico Release New Song “101” Featuring Alt-J’s Joe Newman

As fans of Portico adjust to many of the new changes set forth by the group, the promise of new music, and delivery of a new single is a beacon of musical guidance.

The sound cloud based distribution of the new single is new to many of the older fans of Portico, especially if they remember Portico Quartet. Despite the changes, you can expect to see the same style, format, and quality music coming from the skilled musicians of SXSW.

Portico are Duncan Bellamy, Milo Fitzpatrick and Jack Wyllie. Previously they were three-quarters of the highly successful, critically-acclaimed and Mercury-nominated Portico Quartet. But new album Living Fields is no continuation under a shortened name. As far as the band are concerned this is a debut, a leap into a whole new sound and way of making music.

Despite making the investment to go ahead and rebrand, The members aren’t concerned about the future of working together. And fans don’t seem concerned about the potential change in style.

This new song has a great electronic interlude that has echoing percussion and beat that only contrasts the light but present vocals from Joe Newman. Take a listen for yourself.

As always if you ever want to read more on Alt-J’s current work, or want to read up on on other new music, mxdwn has the articles for you.
