Tickets went on sale yesterday for an additional show at Madison Square Garden from legendary Irish rockers U2. The band, originally scheduled to play 6 NYC shows over 12 days at MSG, have ended one more to please the legions fans still eager to be part of U2’s famed stadium experience. If you count yourself as a fan but find yourself short of a ticket, this might be your lucky day!
2014 was somewhat of a down year for U2 by their standards: their free release of Songs of Innocence, which was downloaded automatically to Itunes libraries everywhere, led to backlash worldwide as Itunes users protested the violation of their privacy, and the assumption they would want a U2 album at all. The launch was a failure for both the band and for Apple, which was a shock for two major brands unaccustomed to rejection and failure.
Regardless, the band has already sold out most of their shows on the “iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE” tour–a tour that will see them on the road from May to November in major cities across the globe. Tickets, as they often do for shows like these, are at astronomical prices–you’ll be hard pressed to find a ticket for less than $100, and resale tickets are already selling in the thousands. Still, there are few if any bands who can deliver a stadium rock experience like U2, so if you missed out on the first round of tickets, now is your chance!
