Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have announced that Tegan and Sara will perform with Lonely Island during the 87th Oscars. The pop duo and comedy-music trio will perform their Oscar nominated song, “Everything Is Awesome”.
The 87th Oscars will air on Sunday, February 22, live on ABC and hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. It will be held at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. The show will start at 7 pm ET/ 4 pm PT. The Oscar producers are very excited for this collaboration to take place during the show. “Tegan and Sara and Lonely Island?…..Everything Is Awesome, indeed. The song “Everything Is Awesome” was written for “The Lego Movie”. It is currently nominated for Original Song. The release of the song has been hugely successful. In the U.S. alone “Everything Is Awesome” has sold more than half a million copies.
Canadian twin sisters Tegan and Sara were Grammy nominated in 2013 for Album of the year for their critically acclaimed album “Heartthrob”. The duo was also nominated for Group of the Year. In recent news, Tegan and Sara released a new song with Night Terrors Of 1927.
As for The Lonely Island, is a collaboration of “Saturday Night Live” cast members Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone. The comedy-music trio won the Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for their song “I’m On A Boat” featuring T-Pain.
