Wavves’ Nathan Williams has announced a new album for Sweet Valley with MNDR. The new album, Dance 4 A Dollar, will be released on February 24 via Fool’s Gold.
According to a press release Sweet Valley with MNDR’s sound is, “a darkly catchy Cali masterpiece. SV chop up strip club 808s and woozy synths like they’re reclaiming trip hop for the DJ Mustard era, while MNDR explores the underbelly of radio songcraft, finding the creepiness inside champagne anthems and and coating tales of teenage nihilists with Rihanna-worthy ear candy. Decay never sounded so sweet…”
In honor of the new announcement, the group released the title track of the new album. The new title track is currently available on SoundCloud. As expected, the new song has an odd feel to it. In the background there is a touch of techno that drives the song forward. However, the rhythm and singing on top feels slower than the beat, causing a countering feeling. These unlikely sounds do come together in an interesting way to create this four minute track.
