LISTEN: THEESatisfaction Release New Song “EarthEE”

R&B/hip hop duo THEESatisfaction have released a new track called “EarthEE,” which is now available for streaming.

Rapper Stasia “Stas” Irons and singer Catherine “Cat” Harris-White met in Seattle in 2008 and were signed by Sub Pop Records in 2011. Their debut album, awE NaturalE, was released in 2012. THEESatisfaction is planning to release their sophomore effort, also titled EarthEE, on February 24.

The duo released a song with Shabazz Palaces called “Recognition” in December from the upcoming album, and that track had their typical R&B, hip hop and soul elements, but also included hints of beat poetry and chanting. The latest release is the title track from the album due later this month, and this one is equally hypnotic. Cat and Stas once again blend their voices seamlessly, moving between verse and chorus with a smooth and uniform sound. The techno beat in the background adds a spacy sound to the track, which also features Porter Ray and the Palaceer. “EarthEE” is a laid-back, trance-like song that manages to stay upbeat and catchy throughout. You can listen to the new track stream below.

THEESatisfaction’s latest music seems as if it would go over well with a festival crowd, which is fitting considering they played at the 2014 Afropunk Music Festival in Brooklyn, New York, and have been announced as one of the thousands of performers at this year’s SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas.
