Blink 182’s Tom DeLonge Posts New Song Demos On Instagram

Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge posted two new song demos over the weekend. While he states they are Blink-182 demos, they appear in the midst of the controversy of whether DeLonge is still in the band.

According to Purevolume, both demos were posted to DeLonge’s Instagram account over the weekend. He captioned the tracks “#SongsWithoutAHome #March1st”. While both tracks have a rock feel that could belong to Blink-182, some are skeptical of the likelihood following the recent controversy that has been surrounding the band.

In late January, Blink-182’s drummer Travis Barker and bassist Mark Hoppus issued a statement that DeLonge’s manager reached out to them claiming that he was quitting the band. Both members concluded “The show must go on” and went as far as to select Alkaline Trio frontman, Matt Skiba as DeLonge’s replacement.

The controversy truly began when DeLonge released statement claiming that Barker and Hoppus’ announcement was not true. He claimed that he was scheduling an event for Blink-182 when the news of his quitting broke.

More recently, DeLonge addressed the issue again that the allegations all boiled down to miscommunication. However, he expressed his feelings on the matter in a heart-felt message on Facebook where he addresses the problems with the band and his frustration with the situation they are currently facing. He closes his post with the following:

“At the end of the day, all of this makes me really sad. Sad for us. Sad for you- that you’re witnessing this immaturity. I know them very well, and their current actions are defensive and divisive. I suppose they’re doing this as a way to protect themselves from being hurt. Like we all do. And even as I watch them act so different to what I know of them to be, I still care deeply for them. Like brothers, and like old friends. But our relationship got poisoned yesterday. Never planned on quitting, just find it hard as hell to commit.”

Fans can preview both demos that DeLonge posted to Instagram below. Where Barker and Hoppus stand on the issue remains unclear at this time.
