Placebo Announce Spring 2015 Tour Dates With A New Drummer

The English alt-rockers have released an official statement that they will be touring with a new drummer in support of their 20th anniversary. It will be their biggest tour to date.

Alternatively finding themselves described in news and reviews as “goth-rock”, Britpop, post-punk revival, and industrial rock, the band, whose 20th anniversary was last year, have released seven studio albums, each of which have reached the top twenty in the United Kingdom and have sold over 11 million records world wide.

This being said, their bandmate track record has been a bit shifty. Brian Molko, and Stefan Olsdal, the two founding members, have enlisted the help of nine other individuals over the years to help them with touring and recording. Their longtime and founding drummer, Steve Hewitt, was fired from the band in 2007, to be replaced by Steve Forrest, who left the band this year. For their largest tour to date, they will employ Matt Lunn, who is former member of the band Colour of Fire, as their drummer. A press release issued from the band thanks Steve for all the work he had done with the band and wishes him success in the future. The tour will start on February 25th in Dublin, and then make it’s way to Belfast and Edinburgh later in the month, to continue through the end of March.

Loud Like Love, their latest album which came out on September 16th of 2013, will be featured heavily during the tour. The lyrics, like many from Placebo, deal with romance, happiness and heartbreak, as well as isolation and unconditional love. They have David Bowie among their chief influences, and have opened for him a number of times. They have also included Lou Reed and The Cure amongst their main influences. Loud Like Love was released by Universal.
