Noise pop band Deerhoof have released a music video for the track “Black Pitch” from 2014’s La Isla Bonita.
The video features frontwoman Satomi Matsuzak on both land and sea around London. Stereogum points out that the seaside setting may be a play on the album title. The video is simple but fitting for the calm, repetitive song for which it was made. Though the song doesn’t seem particularly melancholy, the gloomy setting of the clip also seems to provide the perfect atmosphere. Watch the “Black Pitch” video below.
This new video is quite different from their last, “Exit Only,” which featured actor Michael Shannon playing two different characters. Deerhoof will be touring the U.S. this spring, with one show on January 31 and the rest in March. The band’s drummer, Greg Saunier, and Lightning Bolt’s drummer, Brian Chippendale, recorded an album together that was released in December 2014, and both appeared in the documentary Checking In At 20.
