Violence broke out in Compton yesterday on the set for a video for Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. Mxdwn is here with the latest.
Long-time rival of Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, has been arrested early this morning after causing an altercation on the set of a commercial in the neighborhood of Compton in Los Angeles. Reports from TMZ describe Suge driving to the set to supposedly talk things out with Dre. The two rappers, who had formerly co-owned Death Row Records together, have had beef since Dre’s departure from the project to join Interscope. Death Row experienced a messy end and was eventually sold in auction. Suge is no stranger to incidents with the law and has previously been charged with marijuana possession as well as involvement in multiple shootings. Sources indicate that neither Dr. Dre nor Ice Cube were on the set during the course of events last night.
When asked to leave the set, Suge supposedly got mixed up with 2 men and, after returning to his car, reversed into 3 individuals. One victim has been identified as Terry Carter, a friend of Suge who actually arrived with him to the set. Carter suffered from serious injuries that proved fatal later that night. Two other men were hit by the vehicle, but their injuries were not as severe. They are still recovering in the hospital.
Suge fled from the scene alone in his vehicle after the accident and was promptly pursued by Los Angeles police. After locating his vehicle abandoned in Westwood early this morning, the police succeeded in locating and arresting him. He has been charged with murder and is currently being held in a prison in downtown Los Angeles. He has yet to make bail, which has been set at $2 million.
