Ms. Lauryn Hill has announced an extension to her SMALL AXE: Acoustic Performance Series. The rooms, spanning from 250-500 capacities, are mostly seated to created an intimate performance experience with the 8 time Grammy Award winner.
The biggest draw with these shows is not only the quality of the performance, but also the venues. With intimate, mostly seated venues that seat 250 – 500 people, it’s not surprising that the February portion of her tour is already sold out.
Along with her performance, she will be performing with special guest DJs that are yet to be announced. The performances also includes screenings of an abridged version of “Concerning Violence” a documentary that Ms. Lauryn Hill narrates. The documentary is focused on third world countries and liberation and takes a fine comb to the process of decolonization.
The tour begins February 13th in Washington, D.C., and will end in Los Angeles, CA on March 28th. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 30th.
The artist also released an acoustic version of her song “Mr. Intentional” with the announcement.
The acoustic sound of the song plays right into Hill’s smooth sound and soulful voice. The atmospheric lighting and set up is a great example of how the intimate performance spaces really bring out the emotion in the music and show overall. It’s no wonder why the crowd is so excited with the moderate tempo and chill environment, contributing to a one of a kind experience.
