Passion Pit Announce New Album Kindred For April 2015 Release

Passion Pit announced that their new album, “Kindred”, will be released in April 2015 on Columbia Records. “Kindred” is the full length follow up to the band’s 2012 album, “Gossamer.”

In addition to an announcement of the new album, the band teased the release with a mysterious 12-second Youtube video teasing the album, and a tweet that was written in Morse code, according to SPIN. SPIN also states that the tweet – that was transcribed from the code into text – reads: “KINDRED I PUT MY HANDS IN THE AIR AND MY KNEES TO THE GROUND.”

Right now, we are not able to verify online speculation about the coded tweet – or the meaning behind this Facebook photo that seems to list song titles on a white board, but we’ll be bringing you more information as the release date nears and things become clearer.

Apart from his work with Passion Pit, frontman Michael Angelakos has just released a demo of a new song, “Somewhere”, with his side project Eastern Shift. The 90-second sample is described by Rolling Stone as being a track that “bursts with all the synthesizer giddiness of a Passion Pit tune or mid-2000s Kanye West, complete with a high-pitched helium voice singing Barry Manilow’s “Somewhere Down the Road” lyrics about how in the future, “you will see that you belong with me” before breaking to the sound of a cheering crowd.”

In addition to the Eastern Shift track, Angelakos has been teasing snippets of other things he’s working on via SoundCloud. He has posted a remix of “Love Runs Out” by One Republic; “Will He Loves Me Like Calvin Loves Alice?” – an Eastern Shift demo in its early stages; and, two instrumentals – the first “Batty Lashes” dates back to 2007, according to Rolling Stone. While, the second, “Cuddle Fuddle” is credited to Angelakos and Passion Pit. Lastly, earlier this month, he released new sample of Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work”, and Passion Pit was added to the lineup of two festivals taking place in March 2015. First, they will be appearing at the Buku Music + Art Project that is being held in New Orleans, Louisiana, and then at the Bottle Rock Festival in Napa, California.
