While many will be undoubtedly flocking to the Coachella Valley to experience this year’s Coachella festival, there are those unfortunate few who were unable to get tickets to any of the scheduled days. For those who fall into that latter category, Coachella has confirmed the side shows that will supplement the festival this year.
Although not as immersive or popular as the actual festival itself, Coachella’s Side Shows often provide just as diverse a lineup as the festival that takes place in the desert every year. The “Side Shows” are a series of concerts that take place at different venues roughly around the same two weekends that the festival normally takes place. This year’s lineup will feature acts from a variety of different genres, including rock, hip-hop, and electronic. Alongside these diverse musical groups will include Dr. Dog, Mo, and the Ting Tings. The Side Shows begin around Mid-February and will run until the end of April.
This year’s Coachella festival surprised many of the loyal attendees who have gone to Coachella over the years by providing a mix of hard rock acts (AC/DC, Jack White) with artists that nobody would have ever anticipated coming to the event. The biggest surprise of the year by far is the appearance of seventies group Steely Dan, who brings a mix of jazz, blues, and rock into an already boiling cauldron of today’s biggest acts and yesterday’s biggest legends. This is definitely going to be a big year for the Coachella Festival.
