Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds Announce New Album Chasing Yesterday for March 2015 Release

After his well received debut album, Noel Gallagher (ex-Oasis) and his band the High Flying Birds are planning on releasing an album in March. They are also hitting several major North American cities between May and June of this year.

According to a press release from label Sour Mash Records, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will release their second album on March 3rd of this year, which will be entitled Chasing Yesterday. The album finds Gallagher and Co. breaking into new territory, incorporating more diverse instrumentation than on their self-titled debut. The end result is a heady cocktail of everything from straight-ahead rock ‘n’ roll to spacey jazz to 60’s psychedelia–though the press release still claims that the album fits together as a cohesive whole.

For the first time ever, Gallagher has also tried his hand at producing the album entirely on his own, which perhaps lead to more artistic freedom than the front man was anticipating:

“It was a major pain in the arse. It’s not that I’ve ever had people telling me what to write or what direction to go in, but managing sessions from one end of the week to the other proved extremely difficult. I had all these people looking at me and saying: ‘right, what are we doing today?’ I was making the whole thing up as I went along.”

After parting ways with Oasis in late 2009, the British press speculated widely that Gallagher would pursue solo career as soon as possible. It wasn’t until two years later that Gallagher announced his first solo record with his new backing band, the self-titled Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. With a four-year break, fans of Gallagher have eagerly been awaiting the release of Chasing Yesterday, which is available for pre-order on the artist’s website. Fan’s who purchase the Deluxe CD or Vinyl will also receive four bonus tracks not available on the standard editions.
