WATCH: Ariel Pink Plays A Taxi Driver In Short Film Vagabond

Perhaps, nothing is more empty than a big city in the dead of night, especially suburbs. That is why being a taxi driver in the middle of nowhere could be a dangerous thing. Not for Ariel Pink, though.

Playing the role of a taxi driver with a wanderlust, Ariel makes you want to get into his car from the first second. Because every person is not just another client for him. “The journey is the reward,” as Steve Jobs used to say.

Talking to himself, as well as to the homeless (played by his Haunted Graffiti band mate Tim Koh, according to undertheradarmag.com) going to the next resting place, and to Friends’ Samantha Urbani, playing a prostitute ashamed of her profession, Ariel tries to justify and idealize the meaning of life of those two.

Watch the short film “Vagabond,” an ode to romance and intimacy, below. The film will be screened at the Melbourne festival Sugar Mountain.

Ariel Pink, announced as a performing act for 2015’s Primavera and Burgerama festivals, keeps surprising us with new talents. His latest album pom pom is out now on 4AD.
