The London lo-fi pop group has released an aggressive black and white video for the single “Crest” off 2014’s The Other I, marking yet another collaboration with director Charlie Robins.
In the video, 2:54 play the atmospheric and atonal song while the camera blurs in and out of focus and cuts in and out, creating a strobe effect. The end result is akin to “browning out,” with music to match; the experience is visually and aurally disorienting throughout.
Despite the drunk and disorderly feel of the video, the song mostly centers around Colette and Hannah Thurlow, as well as the rest of their band, playing the song in a straightforward manner. According to front woman Colette Thurlow:
“We wanted to create a video that captured the energy of the song as well as our live show, and once again Charlie Robins, Chris Hugall and Daniel Castro have done an outstanding job of doing exactly that. We simply cannot wait to get back out to the States again. It’s the dream.”
The video comes out only a month after 2:54 announced a Winter Tour throughout the U.S. featuring supporting band Honeyblood. As hinted above, the band is extremely excited to get back to the States in support of their 2014 full-length The Other I. It also marks the first headlining North American tour for the group, after previously opening for the XX in 2012.
