Reuniting with Pepper Keenan for the first time since 2006, the four-piece incarnation of Corrosion of Conformity is excited to hit the road in the U.K. with the possibility of recording new material toward the end of the year.
As BlabberMouth.Net is reporting, Keenan has decided to take time off from his main project DOWN to play and rehearse with his old band Corrosion of Conformity. After joining in 1990, Keenan became the lead singer in 1994 with the release of Deliverance, eventually releasing three more albums with the group before switching his focus to DOWN.
Though Keenan never officially left C.O.C., members and fans are still excited to have him working again full-time with the band. According to drummer Reed Mullin:
“He’s taking time off from DOWN and, you know, he makes so much damn money doing DOWN, we’ve got to get him while we can get him. He’s really excited about it, and we’re awful excited to do it. It’s been a while. It’s been I think 2000 since I played with him. I mean, we’ve done songs here and there, at festivals overseas and things, as a four-piece, but as a tour, it’s been a long time since this entity, this four-piece has been out on the road. It’s going to be a blast.”
Mullin also hinted at the possibility of Keenan recording some new music with the band, saying, “I think [releasing a new CD later in 2015 is] doable. If we start working in January… Like I said, we’ve got to use Pepper while we can get him!” According to Mullin, Keenan also found a bevy of unused material just sitting around his New Orleans home that the band could revisit:
“Pepper and I were talking the other day, and we’ve got some riffs left over from that era that I never used for C.O.C. stuff, and he didn’t use for DOWN. They’ve just been sitting around from when we used to do demos at Jag Studios. He was, like, ‘Man, I found a couple cassettes. Remember those cassettes we used to do with [John] Custer down at Jag?’ So, yeah, he found a cache of some good riffage in his house down there in New Orleans that I guess he had packed away. And, for some reason, I can remember a lot of the riffs those guys write.”
All this means that fans of the quartet incarnation of C.O.C. have a lot “riffage” to look forward to. In a more immediate sense, fans living in the United Kingdom will be able to see the reunited band this upcoming March. Below is a list of dates that have been announced so far.
