Happy Fangs have released a new song, called “In The Morning”, and the garage rock track is a real jolt of energy. Pairing this track with some coffee would be a good way to start your morning off right.
The song – which premiered over at SPIN – is off of the San Francisco-based trio’s new album, Capricorn.
So, what does “In the Morning” sound like?
Well, Spin describes the Happy Fangs’ track as being “like the sun suddenly rising through your not-nearly-closed-enough blinds — disruptive as all hell, but bright and cheery enough that it’s hard to get too mad at it.”
The cheery track features a guitar crunch that you can almost sink your teeth into, hard hitting drums, and a rhetorical-yet-motivating question. In the chorus, Happy Fangs singer Rebecca Bortman wonders, “In the morning, when you rise / Will you be the swatter, or will you be the fly?”
It’s a question that we all face in the morning, when deciding how we’ll take on a particular day or task. “Life will never have its shortage of energy zappers, sleaze monsters, and soul suckers,” explains Bortman in an interview with SPIN. “You choose whether you give them the power.”
