On Wednesday January 7th, 2015, an angry crowd rendered a man unconscious at a show, featuring Cattle Decapitation, after he allegedly slashed another concertgoer with a knife.
The fighting occurred at 11.30 p.m. during Cattle Decapitation’s set at a heavy metal battle of the bands at the 13th Frame Lounge in La Habra, Calif., according to NBC Los Angeles. NBCLA also reports that the La Habra Police Department has identified the slashing suspect as 30-year-old Adam Merrill. After becoming upset over the fact that he was being pushed around by other audience members in mosh pit, Merrill slashed another person on the side of the neck with a knife. Then, a group of other concertgoers, made up of several men and women, ganged up on him and knocked him unconscious, according to Blabbermouth.
The slashing victim was transported to hospital to be treated for non-life threating injuries. NBCLA reports that Merrill was also hospitalized, and police have said that he will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Both are expected to make a full recovery.
Approximately 150 people were in attendance on Wednesday night, including drummer Alex Lopez of Suicide Silence, according to Blabbermouth. After the event, Lopez tweeted: “I arrived and so did 7 police cars an ambulance and a fire truck. Someone got stabbed in the neck… Took that decapitation too far… ”
And, the last sentence of his tweet hit the nail on the head. Yikes.
