Sony prepares for the launch of their most innovative Walkman yet.
Before the era of Apple’s iPod, Sony’s Walkman was reigning king of portable device players. Rolling Stone reports that this year, Sony is back with its most exciting device news yet: the reintroduction of this classic product as a brand-new, high-resolution audio device known as the NW-ZX2 Walkman. The device was presented at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. The NW-ZX2 is projected to hit shelves in the spring at the astounding retail price of $1,119.99.
Sony claims that the new device holds the ability to “reproduce master quality recordings just as the artists originally intended.” The innovative device is reportedly able to reduce distortion and noise for a cleaner sound through a special digital amplifier. The NW-ZX2 runs on DSEE HX technology, which creates better sound quality of streaming sources that are not already high-res.
Sony’s latest Walkman boasts 128GB of memory – which can be extended to 256GB – along with a battery that can last up to 60 hours, rivaling Apple’s largest iPod at 120GB AND 36 hours of playback. The device also features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi compatibility, enabling it to wirelessly broadcast to various devices. Sony is also projected to release numerous new speakers and headphones that guarantee high audio quality. In terms of the display, the NW-ZX2 will run on a two-year old touch screen operating system.
