LISTEN: Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos Releases New Sample of Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work”

Michael Angelakos, frontman for indie electronic group passion pit, has reworked a sample from Kate Bush’s 1987 classic “This Woman’s Work.” In addition to finishing up work on Passion Pit’s third album, Angelakos has released this demo and several others under the moniker Eastern Shift.

As Pretty Much Amazing is reporting, Angelakos is calling his reworking “Katie Croons.” The song samples from Bush’s classic vocal performance, but speeds up the song’s immortal melody. Throw in a snappy beat courtesy of Angelakos, and the end result is an ethereal, fluttering experience that seems like it is over far too soon.

In addition to work on a full-length follow up to 2012’s Gossamer, passion pit has also been making the rounds with some live performances. For instance, members of the band just played a DJ set at Lure Hollywood in November of 2014. The band is also slated to headline the Buku Festival in New Orleans on March 13 and 14 alongside other note worthies, such as Bassnectar, A$AP Rocky, Die Antword and TV on the Radio.
