Atmosphere have released a rather bleak new video for the single “January On Lake Street,” the second such single to be released off of their Southsiders record.
Similar to the single “Arthur’s Song,” Atmosphere have taken a “less is more” production approach to one of their singles. The newest video for “January On Lake Street” offers up a somewhat dismal look at life in suburban America. It features a young man skateboarding around town interspersed with faces of different people. The faces all have varying expressions, but a common theme of depression seems to link the faces together. While musically, “January On Lake Street” is an exercise in pairing down, the video does anything except pair down. The emotional pull of the video gives off a different interpretation to “January On Lake Street” that the lyrics would imply.
“January On Lake Street” is the third video made by Atmosphere in as many months. They have also done a video for “Fortunate,” which celebrates all of their accomplishments to date. Their record, Southsiders will be out soon.
