Modest Mouse Announce New Album Strangers To Ourselves For March 2015 Release

In late December Modest Mouse surprised a small number of fans by sending out a test pressing of a double-A side 7″ of their new single, “Lampshades on Fire,” with a letter that confirmed their first album in eight years: Strangers to Ourselves out March 3 on Epic.

The cover art above and the single “Lampshades on Fire” were released just a few days after the surprising announcement. To read more on “Lampshades on Fire” check out this previous story from mxdwn.

Strangers to Ourselves may not have a confirmed track list yet, but “Lampshades on Fire” is enough draw for fans of Modest Mouse to begin pre-ordering the 15 track album.

This is good news for group as the continue preparing to be touring extensively in 2015. More details will be released about touring in the future.

Modest Mouse’s last album from 2007, We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and was followed with rave reviews. Since then, the band has stayed busy by headlining festivals like Governors Ball, Sasquatch, and Leeds. In 2009 they released a collection of unreleased songs and b-sides No One’s First, And You’re Next. And in 2012 the presented a 45 minute documentary on the making of The Lonesome Crowded West.

In 2013 the played at Coachella, laster headlined for Fun Fun Fun Fest and re-released This Is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About and The Lonesome Crowded West on Glacial Pace.
