WATCH: Mark Ronson Releases “Uptown Funk” Video Featuring Bruno Mars

Recalling the feel-good vibes of 90s mainstream R&B, Mark Ronson has teamed up with Bruno Mars to release a new video for “Uptown Funk.” The video, co-directed by Mars and Cameron Guddy, presages the release of his fourth album Uptown Special, set to be released on January 15.

The video shows Mars dancing through the streets, presumably getting ready for the show: he get’s his hair done, shines his shoes, etc. The throw back dance routines and linen suits would fit in perfectly in a late-80s or early-90s video, almost giving the viewer flashbacks to New Edition. Fortunately, the song matches the mood of the visuals, blending familiar samples with modern textures to make you feel comfortable shaking your money maker.

As stated above, Ronson’s ablum Uptown Special is due to launch on Janaury 15, featuring the new single. In addition to Mars, the album will also feature collaborations from Trombone Shorty, the Dap-Kings and Kevin Parker of Tame Impala. In addition to pop music’s elite, the album also features the presence of Ronson’s favorite living author, Michael Chabon, who penned many of the album’s lyrics and often worked with the vocalists in the studio.

To promote the album, Ronson and Mars have already appeared on Saturday Night Live this past November to play “Uptown Funk.” Ronson and rapper Mystikal also performed the song “Feel Right” on the same episode.
