Live Nation and Vice Media have joined forces to bring live music content to digital platforms.
According to Billboard, Live Nation, the largest music promoter in the world, has teamed up with digital music content company Vice Media to focus on spreading live music content via digital platforms.
The announcement was made on November 12th by Michael Rapino, Live Nation’s CEO and president, and Shane Smith, Vice’s CEO and founder.
Rupino stated in a press release,
“Shane and the VICE organization have proven to be the voice of this generation. Together with Live Nation’s platform, we are positioned to become the voice of live music by developing an artist-centric, 24/7 global music destination that enables artists to bring their creative vision to life in a new and rich online and mobile music ecosystem.”
The content will look to fill a void in the music market for artist-driven coverage of live events, from stage to studio, including documentaries and in-depth looks at artists.
Shane stated,
“This partnership rethinks the live music experience, offering unprecedented access to the world’s biggest stars and emerging artists, and groundbreaking content that will be distributed across the holy trinity of mobile, online and TV…We think that this partnership will give VICE and Live Nation the unique ability to totally re-imagine music content on a global scale, and if that doesn’t get your rocks off I don’t know what will!”
Live Nation company includes Ticketmaster, Live Nation Concerts, Live Nation Media & Sponsorship, and Artist Nation Management, which brought in a revenue of $6.3 last year.
Vice reportedly brought in $2.3 billion, and have recently been under fire for allegedly displacing up to three music venues in New York for a new company headquarters.
The partnership between them aims to grow digital content of live performances throughout digital platforms, and hopes to “reimagine music content on a global scale.”
