Rhiannon Giddens has released a new song “Black Is The Color”. The song is currently available for instant download to fans that pre-order her new album.
The multi-talented Rhianna Giddens’ new single, “Black Is The New Color” is part of Rhiannon Giddens new album, Tomorrow Is My Turn. The album is due for release on February 10 via Nonesuch.
Her songs, “Don’t Let It Trouble Your Mind” and “Shake Sugaree” are available for instant download as well. Fans who pre-order the CD and Vinyl in the Nonesuch Store will receive an exclusive print autographed by Giddens.
In a statement from the New York Times, they described Giddens saying, “”Rhiannon Giddens … turned to the folk revival repertory of Odetta for the enigmatic ‘Water Boy,’ singing it with the fervor of a spiritual, the yips of a field holler and the sultry insinuation of the blues … the performances were splendidly polished.”
In addition to the release of “Black Is The Color”, Giddens recently appeared in an Apple commercial that features her rendition of “Love Is Here To Stay”. Giddens also worked on a series of projects with the New Basement Tapes including performances of lost Bob Dylan song “Six Months In Kansas City”.
