Playing music that you love to play and are good at playing is a great thing all in itself. But playing music with other great musicians, as Ryan Adams and Jello Biafra teamed up and performed the original “Moon Over Marin,” is another story.
As a singer, song-writer, and producer inspired by 70’s and 80’s rock, Ryan Adams performed a cover of “Moon Over Marin” Sunday night at the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium, inviting Dead Kennedys’ frontman Jello Biafra to sing with him. Since Adams is already a fan of San Francisco’s punk rock scene, performing with the lead singer of a popular pop rock band was an exciting time for him and for those at Sunday night’s show. According to Relix, the performance was a dream experience and became a benchmark moment for Adam’s career.
In September, he also teamed up with Johnny Depp at the 02’s Shepher’s Bush Empire to cover Danzig’s “Mother,” where Depp lead on guitar. He also collaborated with Jenny Lewis, performing together on stage and covering each other’s songs like “Just One Of the Guys” and “Sweet Carolina.” Adam’s also covers Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is” back in October.
