The Smith Westerns announced that they are going on an indefinite hiatus. The news comes after group will only have one performance this year, scheduled for December 23.

Smith Westerns first performance of 2014 looks like it will also be the last of their career. The group is scheduled to perform at Schubas in Chicago. Smith Westerns frontman, Cullen Omori made the official announcement on his Facebook page.
Omori also mentioned via social media that guitarist Max Kakacek will not be in attendance at the final show. He stated Max’s status as “indisposed”. Despite this, it seems that the remaining group members, Cameron Omori and Julien Ehrlich will be in attendance.
The Smith Westerns formed in 2007 and released their first album, The Smith Westerns two years later. There final album Soft Will was released last year. The album was not as widely received as expected due to their label change to Mom + Pop Music.

It’s been a pretty crazy 7 years since we started this while we were still in high school, and this official show is the last before an indefinite hiatus.
